Blizzard has announced the successful raising of $60,000 from the sales of the special release Hilaree Nelson Limited Edition ski and children’s book, “Leader of the Pack.” This achievement highlights the community’s strong support and enthusiasm for honoring Hilaree’s legacy of inspiration, empowerment, and advocacy. These funds will be donated to organizations dedicated to empowering women in the outdoor space and addressing climate change initiatives, causes that were close to Hilaree’s heart.
Blizzard has initiated a grant program to distribute these funds to non-profits or individuals affiliated with non-profits dedicated to these critical causes. As Leslie Baker-Brown, Blizzard’s W2W Project Lead, explained, “Hilaree was such an important person in the outdoor space—not just for women but for all. Beyond her achievements in sport, her passion, drive, and down-to-earth demeanor served as a beacon, especially for women. She showed us what women could do and led us encouragingly and humbly.” Through this initiative, Blizzard aims to carry on Hilaree’s legacy, ensuring her work and values continue to inspire and support future generations.
Blizzard is now inviting those with initiatives or projects aligned with these goals to apply for funding through a dedicated page on their website. This funding opportunity will support women in their outdoor pursuits, helping them follow in Hilaree’s footsteps and pave the way for future generations. Additionally, it will contribute to combating climate change, a cause Hilaree passionately advocated for, recognizing its profound impact on outdoor recreation. Blizzard honors Hilaree’s memory by continuing her legacy of positive impact in the outdoor and environmental communities.
