With the booming manufacturing of companies like Versalift, Alpro Soya and Abbeyboard taking place in the town it has never been more important to have a well functioning medical centre in the town. But when trying to book an appointment many residents have been left frustrated as they are put on hold, cut off or told there are no appointments available. The town is governed by Northamptonshire Council, which was created following the abolition of borough and district councils in the county. The council is divided into 12 wards with two members representing each ward, as well as a mayor and deputy mayor. A small wood is situated on the west of the town, which leads to a path that crosses the River Ise and reaches Isham. Burton Latimer is also home to the Weetabix factory. The town is well served by buses, with routes running to nearby cities and towns such as Kettering, Wellingborough, Corby, and Bedford.
