Battery Life
The Incipio offGRID 8000 has the second-longest lasting battery life among all mid-size portable chargers tested, delivering over 639 minutes of power in our intensive ‘real world’ tests. Discharge rates were also faster than nearly all other chargers tested.
Power/Size
The Incipio offGRID 8000 rated best-in-class for battery life and power per cubic inch and ounce among all mid-size portable chargers. In fact, despite the offGRID’s 8000 mAh rating, it actually delivers more battery life than several 10000 mAh rated devices, and nearly the same amount of battery life as the 13400 mAh Anker PowerCore.
Durability
Durability for the offGRID 8000 is average to better-than-average. The offGRID is constructed from a decent plastic/polycarbonate, with a thin rubber-coating over most of the device. The offGRID handled elementary impact, torsion, and compression tests well, but was not subjected to more advanced/extreme measures due to stresses observed during initial tests. Overall, this appears to be an excellent device for general/everyday use.
Features
Like all devices tested, the offGRID offers both 1 and 2.1 amp charging, and integrated power level indicator lights. Unlike it’s smaller sibling the offGRID 4000, however, the offGRID 8000 does not include a rubber band to hold USB and micro-USB charging cable, which does impact convenience.
Value
In terms of battery life and power/performance for each dollar spent, the Incipio offGRID 8000 earns a solid second-place for all mid-size portable chargers. In short: the offGRID 8000 is an excellent device, and a great buy.
